| Customer Reviews:
Not a bad product. January 6, 2009 Let me start off by saying that this tester isn't 100% accurate, but if you use it after having a few drinks, it will give you a decent range with which you'll fall into. In fact, if you use it a few times within a short time span, you'll find that your values will be fairly constant (+/- .02). So you'll know more or less whether or not you're above the legal limit or not. After having a few beers the other night over the course of a few hours (approx. 1 beer/hr.), I blew close to a .08, which is what I expected. I used it more times after that (several heavy Belgians into the night) and blew much higher than .08, so I knew it was doing it's job fairly accurately.
Also, you can't try to fake a lower score by blowing lightly into the tester, because you always have to blow lightly into the tester -- if you blow too hard (and this is not very hard at all) then you will not get any numeric reading and will have to try again.
One fault I did notice the other night, though, was when I took a single sip of wine and tested it out. It gave me a .09, which would put me over the legal limit, obviously making it wrong. So make sure you use it at least five minutes after your last sip, and use it a few times (it needs to warm up) to make sure you pull more accurate, consistent results.
I didn't expect much, but I actually came away surprised. It's more accurate than you think, but don't assume a single blow will determine whether or not you're above or below the legal limit.
