 Hitch Safe - Never use a coathanger again! December 21, 2008
I researched this product via several different online vendors before purchasing. It is a well made device which allows you to keep a spare key on your vehicle at all times, just in case you lose your keys, or lock them in your vehicle. At first I wasn't going to purchase it because I always keep a hitch light in my 2" hitch receiver for added safety at night and adverse driving conditions. However, I found that the rubberized cap can be drilled with the proper holes, and the light can be attached to it. And that is what I did! It adds to the 'camoflage' of having a hitch safe. Although I have not had to access my hitch safe in emergency, I am pleased with the product. It is easy to install, the combination is easy to set [make sure that you try it before you are stranded somewhere, however], and a spare key easily fits into the drawer. Taking the wise advice of other reviewers I sealed the hole in the back of the unit with silcone caulk, and placed a $20 in a zip lock along with the key. A great safety device, especially for those who have ever locked their keys inside their vehicle, or lost their keys [who ever plans to lose their keys?]. You must have a 2" X 2" hitch receiver in order to use this -- that's the only prerequisite.

I have purchased 2 HitchSafe Key Vaults for company SUVs, they are very easy to install, set up combo. The heavy duty plastic cover fits over the end and conceals the lock. The HitchSafe Key Vault is peace of mind to someone who tends to lock himself out of his truck often.

I look my keys in my car once a month. The hitch safe gives me the peace of mind that if it happens I don't need to call my husband, the police, or break the window to get in. I am in sales and I am in and out of my car 10 times a day. I like knowing it is there. I received my delivery from Sporto Motoring/Amazon within 3 days of my order. It was very easy to install and you can not tell it is even on the car. thanks for my peace of mind
